Overview:
The BlueSky Adventures Director is a leadership role reporting to the BlueSky Kenya Country director. The Director will provide strategic direction to the organization’s year-round focused programmatic and relational ministry programs for Climb BlueSky and BlueSky Expeditions. The Director will have the responsibility of vision-casting and driving growth for programs, while developing the Climb and Expeditions team by investing in the growth of their character, competency, and chemistry. The Director will also serve as a member of the BSK Leadership Team.
Responsibilities:
Operational oversight for the areas of Climb BlueSky and BlueSky Expeditions including:
Employee supervision;
Calendar of events;
Budget development and implementation; and
Supporting professional development of direct reports.
Ensuring physically and emotionally safe environments for employees and participants
Develop a high performing team through trust, clear communication, defined responsibilities, engaged leadership, and mission alignment.
Collaborate with leadership on strategic plan development and execution.
Cultivate relationships with NGOs, schools, churches, and other ministry organizations in Kenya/East Africa for connections with Climb BlueSky and BlueSky Expeditions programs.
Oversee the establishment and stewarding of strategic relationships with associations, vendors, and partners throughout Kenya, East Africa, and Internationally.
Collaborate with other department leaders to plan and implement ministry efforts across the organization.
Lead in staff functions and events (e.g. staff retreat, holiday events, and staff meetings).
Engage in ongoing personal and professional development as it relates to adventure programming and leadership development within a multicultural/international context.
Oversee the development of content, curriculum, and programmatic offerings.
Personally lead and participate in programmatic and relational ministry with Climb and Expeditions clients in the multinational community.
Provide oversight and support to the Apprenticeship and Internship program.
Qualifications:
A self-professing Christ follower, actively involved in a Christian faith community and actively pursuing Christ on a consistent basis.

Heart for the nations with proven spiritual leadership experience
Minimum three years work experience in Adventure based programming
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in outdoor education or outdoor leadership, or related field a plus
Minimum three years work experience leading people, developing processes and implementing systems.
Experience leading and teaching multi day adventure based programming; rock climbing, trekking, and mountaineering preferred
Experience serving on and leading cross-cultural and diverse teams
Experience leading ministry working across multiple demographics in an urban setting
Robust international exposure preferred, particularly residing and serving as part of a ministry team
Refined interpersonal skills; highly relational, capable of connecting with others quickly across ages and demographics, and able to work well individually and in a team environment
Initiative to identify issues and solve problems with energy, teamwork and a positive approach
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team player
Strategic thinker. Constantly thinking about the next step and next opportunity.
Passion for discipleship, equipping and caring for the well-being of ministry employees
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management, and organization skills
Proficiency in Microsoft and Google programs and willing to learn web-based software and mobile apps.
Requirements:
Support Raising: All BlueSky ministry staff raise full financial support to serve. Support amount will be determined based on individual situations and current cost of living and doing ministry in Kenya.
Relocating to Nairobi, Kenya to serve for a minimum of 5 years.
