Overview:

The counselor’s primary role will be to work alongside BlueSky’s full-time Camp staff and fellow counselors to care for, play with, and guide campers as they engage in fun activities, adventurous challenges, and spiritually-rich community. We want campers to be led by a staff of Christian young adults who are eager to nurture them and create an environment of love, acceptance, and growth. Our campers are multinational students living in Nairobi, Kenya and around East Africa. Nairobi is an extremely diverse city due to the presence of the United Nations, numerous embassies, and international schools. Currently, BlueSky is the only ministry specifically aimed at reaching the multinational student community. This is a unique ministry, as these students (the sons and daughters of diplomats, military personnel, business and government leaders, and missionaries) are likely to become the national and world leaders of the future. There is a great need for them to know Christ and grow deeper in their faith! A counselor will engage in and learn about ministry in a multicultural context while being part of a seasonal team of international peers under the guidance and mentorship of an established leadership team.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with other camp staff members to implement camp programs and create a Christ-centered, fun, and safe environment for campers and other staff members.

  • Invite campers into spiritual and character growth by facilitating small group conversations and teaching the provided curriculum.

  • Leading, supporting, and playing with campers as they participate in age-appropriate activities.

  • Memorizing emergency procedures and monitoring campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidents.

  • Maintaining and overseeing proper use of camp facilities and equipment.

  • Reporting and recording details of incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to camp leadership staff.

Support Raising:

All BlueSky ministry staff raise financial support to serve. The required amount will vary based on where the staff member is coming from and length of service. As an estimate, the required support amount for an international staff (those coming from outside of Kenya) is $4,500 (BlueSky will contribute $300 if $4,200 is raised by March 1) for the four week trip, which covers traveling, living, and ministry costs. BlueSky staff will assist seasonal staff through the support raising process.

Bonus: Recruit up to 2 friends to join our team to receive an additional $250 for each person.
