Camp BlueSky Assistant Director of Programs

Overview:

The Program Aide’s primary role will be to work alongside Camp BlueSky’s Assistant Director of Programs to plan and execute each day of camp. A Program Aide will work behind the scenes to ensure that the day to day program operations of camp run smoothly. Each Program Aide will have their own primary responsibility, which can include, but is not limited to specific programs, operations, media, and administrative planning and tasks. While focusing on each individual role, the Program Aide will contribute to the overall culture and experience of camp with Gospel-centered leadership.

Our campers are multinational students living in Nairobi, Kenya and around East Africa. Nairobi is an extremely diverse city due to the presence of the United Nations, numerous embassies, and international schools. This is a unique ministry, as these students (the sons and daughters of diplomats, military personnel, business and government leaders, and missionaries) are likely to become some of the national and world leaders of the future. There is a great need for them to know Christ - and for many, meet him for the first time - and grow deeper in their faith! A Program Aid will engage in and learn about ministry in a multicultural context while being part of a seasonal team of international peers under the guidance and mentorship of the Assistant Director of Programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Fulfill your unique role within the Programming Team.

  • Work alongside the Programming Team to execute the daily program operations of camp.

  • Working with other camp staff members to implement camp programs and create a Christ-centered, fun, and safe environment for campers and other staff members, seeking to live the gospel out and grow in Christ-likeness.

  • Mastering emergency procedures and monitoring campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidents.

  • Maintaining and overseeing proper use of camp facilities and equipment.

  • Reporting and recording details of incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to camp leadership staff.

  • Photo/Video (1-2 people)

    • Responsible for taking photographs and videos of campers and camp life during each session of camp.

    • Under direct supervision of Managing Director.

    • Responsible for session and season end video.

    • Upload photos and videos for camp families weekly to camp software.

  • General Programming (3-4 people)

    • Assist the Assistant Director of Programs in planning and running various camp programs (skills, games, evening programming, worship, etc.) throughout the day.

    • This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Programs.

Support Raising:

All BlueSky ministry staff raise and/or personally contribute financial support to serve at Camp BlueSky. The required amount varies based on where the staff member is coming from, length of service, and position.  Program Aides are responsible for covering the cost of their travel to and from Kenya, along with living & traveling expenses during our time away from camp between camp sessions.
